There are never ending answers of how to name your electronic documents. How you name your files is entirely up to you. Personally, here’s the down and dirty way I get it done.
Since I am turning my life into a paperless one (or as much as humanly possible), I’ve found that naming files becomes really important, really fast. Pre-paperless me, I would just name them by category and throw the date on the end. On a bad day, it could be any random way.
As you can see this could get a bit cumbersome in a few years. The months would line up fine but the years would be out of whack. To cure that nonsense I now put the date in the front, followed with only the month.
Even though it took me a few different ways to figure out what I liked, this was worked pretty good for me. Plus, when someone is reading over my shoulder, it makes me look all organized and fancy.
