When’s the last time you pulled your credit report?
Have you ever pulled your credit report?
We all know that we should look at our report regularly for identity theft purposes and to correct errors. Right? We think about it – but how many of us actually follow through? You are ENTITLED to see your credit report once a year from each of the three bureaus. So go get it!
The big three being:
- EQUIFAX
- TRANSUNION
- EXPERIAN
12 months = 3 reports. How are you supposed to even know when to get each one? I feel the best way is not to use your free passes all at once. If you break them up, any errors that are reported during the course of the year can be caught faster.
For some reason I just don’t like to start in January :/ so I choose February. My personal deadline is to file my taxes by Valentine’s Day, so I lump up pulling my credit report in there as well. With that schedule I pull my FREE credit report in:
- FEBRUARY
- JULY
- NOVEMBER
November is a great month as it gives you a view of your accounts before the holiday season. If someone is using your identity, the check in November following up with February will help keep you covered.
Make sure you take advantage of the service provided by www.annualcreditreport.com, the free one, not the one with the catchy jingle. You should never have to pay for your credit report.
