Valpak = Junk Mail. Maybe?

I’m always looking for ways to eliminate the junk mail from my life. The Valpak bundle has been a source of divided logic for me. So, does Valpak = Junkmail? and should you unsubscribe?

Valpak offers coupons/promotions from local companies, many which are family owned and operated. Being a believer of supporting local business, I see what’s new in our area, taking out offers for neighbors and friends. More often though, I find myself not needing the coupons offered.

While searching for a way to take advantage of Valpak without adding more paper to my mailbox, I discovered www.valpak.com. Registration isn’t necessary, which is great since no direct personal information is entered. On the homepage, enter your zip code and local offers come up. Some businesses will only be in the Valpak mailing but not online, when compared, it was minimal.

You can print coupons and get vital info on the business. Hours of operation, map, what methods of payment are accepted – the printed promotion doesn’t always have all that and you end up searching the internet to find out anyway. I also found a section for online shopping codes & grocery coupons. Since the website had everything I was looking for, there was no need to continue to have Valpak delivered.

Useful info: If you decide to register they will email you promotions and offers. There is also an informative newsletter that you may want to get.

Unsubscribing is a snap! Have the Valpak envelope handy as you will need it to fill out the form exactly as it appears on the mailing. Here’s the link to make it easy:

Even though I unsubscribed from the mailed version, I still regularly check the website when I’m looking for a coupon or service. It’s a win for both my mailbox and local business!

Update: If you have an iPhone with passbook, it looks as though Valpak is generating a buzz over there. Check it out on Lifehackers http://updates.lifehacker.com/post/34978796022/valpak-fleshes-out-your-iphones-passbook
